Marcus Antonio Caratelli ist Dramaturg der Stuttgarter Philharmoniker. In dieser Funktion verantwortet er die künstlerische Planung und Vermittlung des Konzertprogramms sowie die Leitung der Bereiche Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und Audience Development.
Caratelli studierte Komposition und Musikwissenschaft an den Hochschulen für Musik Freiburg und Stuttgart und ergänzte seine Ausbildung durch Studien im Kulturmanagement. An der Hochschule für Musik Freiburg promoviert er über den Komponisten und Dirigenten Bernard Herrmann.
Als Komponist wurden seine Werke von Orchestern im In- und Ausland aufgeführt, darunter das Ulster Orchestra, das BBC National Orchestra of Wales, die Stuttgarter Philharmoniker und das Stuttgarter Kammerorchester. Auszeichnungen und Förderungen erhielt er unter anderem von der Komponisten-Akademie des SWR, bei next generation der Donaueschinger Musiktage sowie durch mehrere Bundespreise Komposition.
Neben seiner kompositorischen Tätigkeit war Caratelli als Kulturjournalist und freier Redakteur für SWR2 sowie als Orchestrator für die BBC tätig. Als Musikwissenschaftler, Kurator und Moderator entwickelte er Konzertformate und Vermittlungsprogramme unter anderem für das Württembergische Landesmuseum Stuttgart und die Volkshochschule Stuttgart.
Darüber hinaus engagiert sich Marcus Caratelli als ehrenamtliches Vorstandsmitglied und Dramaturg des Konzertverein Kirbachtal e. V., dessen Konzertreihe Klanglese Kirbachtal sich als überregional beachtetes Forum für Kammermusik etabliert hat.

Marcus Antonio Caratelli is Dramaturg of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, where he is responsible for the artistic planning of the orchestra's concert programmes, as well as for overseeing the Communications and Audience Development departments. Caratelli studied Composition and Musicology at the Universities of Music in Freiburg and Stuttgart and further complemented his education with studies in Cultural Management. He is currently pursuing a doctorate at the Freiburg University of Music, researching the American composer and conductor Bernard Herrmann.
As a composer, his works have been performed by orchestras in Germany and abroad, including the Ulster Orchestra, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra. His work has received awards and fellowships from, among others, the SWR Composers' Academy, next generation at the Donaueschingen Festival of Contemporary Music, as well as several national composition prizes.
Alongside his work as a composer, Caratelli worked as a cultural journalist and freelance editor for SWR2 and as an orchestrator for the BBC. As a musicologist, curator and presenter, he has developed concert formats and music education programmes for institutions including the Württemberg State Museum and the Stuttgart Adult Education Centre (Volkshochschule).
In addition, Marcus Caratelli serves as a voluntary board member and Dramaturg of Konzertverein Kirbachtal e. V., whose concert series Klanglese Kirbachtal has established itself as a widely recognised regional forum for chamber music.
